Kernersville, NC -- We met some young men Saturday night that just might be future auto racers. From the looks of it they can build fast cars.
It's that time of year when Cub Scout Pack 779 in Kernersville holds it Pinewood Derby. They have to craft working cars that are created from a block of wood.
"What this does is it teaches the boys how to build something from scratch. Learn how to make decisions on their own and what they should do to their car. What they like to do. Gives them Ideas of how to plan for something," said Brian Plattel, Pinewood Derby Chair.
The kids will tell you the best part is the racing. These car designs went from generic to wild and wacky.
