Star, NC-- Only one town in North Carolina can boast being the center of an entire state.
That's because the Town of Star is the exact geographical center of North Carolina, according to the Army Corps of Engineers.
Lately, Star is getting attention because of a shooting that took the lives of three coworkers at McBride Lumber. The man who killed them, also worked at the company, and took his own life after the shooting.
If you go to Star's website, it not only boasts about being the center of the state, it offers insights on what the small town, located in Montgomery County, offers its 800 plus citizens.
The US Postal Service lists Star as a Christmas town on its website.
