Civil Rights Activists Honored At 52nd Annual Banquet, Gala By The International Civil Rights Center

Greensboro, NC -- The International Civil Rights Center & Museum will recognize civil rights activist and author Myrlie Evers-Williams at a gala, Saturday night at Koury Convention Center.

Evers is the widow of slain civil rights activist Medgar Evers. She will be the 2012 recipient of the Alston-Jones International Civil and Human Rights Award.

This is the organization's highest award and is named in honor of the Museum's co-founders, Guilford County Commissioner Melvin "Skip" Alston and former N.C. Rep. Earl F. Jones.

The Museum will also present the Unsung Hero award to local resident Atty. David Dansby.

This year's event will be emceed by Sandra Hughes, former veteran news anchor for WFMY News 2.

The Koury Convention Center is located at 3121 High Point Road in Greensboro.
