After befriending a homeless man 22 years ago, Bill Mangum is still giving back.

Greensboro --  Every year, North Carolina's Artist Bill Mangum creates an Honor Card to raise money for Greensboro Urban Ministries.  While you may know that, you may not know just how involved he is behind the scenes.

Many would consider it enough if he donated his time and talents to create the card.  However, it wouldn't be enough for Mangum.

22 years ago, Mangum befriended a homeless man in Greensboro.  He bought him lunch and then took him to Greensboro Urban Ministries.  That didn't end up being the end of his friendship with the man.  Mangum soon became his caretaker and began serving the homeless each week.

Many years later, he's still serving.  Just about every Wednesday morning, you can find him cooking, cleaning, serving... whatever needs to be done.  He even takes it a step farther.  He also worries about the spiritual needs of his homeless friends.  He always has a guest speaker or plans a devotion of his own before breakfast is served.

Greensboro Urban Ministry has become a very popular place for high school students to do community service.  Just to make sure the kids don't lose focus, he prepares a short message for them each week as well.

He says there's one reason why he does it, "I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my faith. Jesus led by example and if we are to imitate Christ, it is by caring for those that can't give back.  If we're true followers, it's really a calling".  It's not all work though.  He says he gets more out of serving than the people he serves.
