Julian, NC -- For six generations the Bowmans have operated a dairy farm in southeast Guilford county.

It all started in the 1930's with about a dozen cows, today they milk in excess of 160.

I 2001, brothers Chris and David Bowman along with their wives Jayne and Terry opened up their own milk processing plant and called it Homeland Creamery.  Beforehand they were selling their milk to a Co-op; a wholesaler who would come and take their milk to other distributors.

Now the dairy features five varieties of farm-fresh milk, and over 21 flavors of rich creamy ice cream.  The products can be purchased at the retail location on the farm or more than 40 stores throughout the Triad and Triangle.

The Bowmans are proud to say that their cows contain no artificial hormones or antibiotics, and the pasteurization process is one that very few farms use to this day.  The milk is cooked a little longer over a lower temperature and then cooled.
