Thomasville, NC-- A kidnapping call to police led to the confiscation of children, drugs and resulted in seven people being arrested.
Wednesday, a woman called Thomasville Police and reported she was kidnapped, assaulted, and later released by her boyfriend.
Thomasville Police Officers investigated the incident, which resulted in kidnapping and assault warrants issued for Joshua Reed.
Thomasville Police officers, along with North Carolina ALE Division agents executed a search warrant at the location of the crime on Old Raleigh Road. Police said they found more than the suspect they were looking for.
Officers seized marijuana, prescription drugs and found a two year-old child locked inside a bedroom. Detectives said the child was unable to get out of the room. They also found several other children inside the house.
Due to the nature of the living environment, law enforcement notified the Davidson County Department of Social Services to further investigate and place the children in other homes.
So far police have charged five people:
Joshua Reed charged with Kidnapping, Assault, Possession of Marijuana.
Michael Stanley charged with Child Neglect.
Harley Conrad charged with Child Neglect
Sarah Harris charged with Child Neglect
James "Frankie" Franklin Oxendine charged with Resist, Obstruct and Delay of a Law Enforcement Officer
Jason Murray charged with Probation Violations
Bradley Stanley charged with Possession of Controlled Substances
The investigation is ongoing and police said additional criminal charges may be coming.
