Rockingham County, NC -- Trooper Michael Elrod told WFMY News 2 that Mary Eppley, an 85 year old woman from King, died from injuries sustained in a Wednesday night crash on NC Highway 704, Thursday afternoon.
Trooper Elrod said Eppley's vehicle, a 1995 Nissan pick-up truck driven by her son-in-law, Larry Noah, 53, of Walnut Cove, was travelling east on Highway 704 just after 5pm in Madison when the crash happened.
A 2005 Ford F-350 truck, driven by Linda Joyce, 50, of Madison, was travelling west on Highway 704.
Joyce attempted to turn into a driveway off of 704 which was across the eastbound lanes of the highway, when she struck Noah's vehicle head-on.
Trooper Elrod said Joyce did not see Noah's vehicle.
Eppley was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. She died at approximately 2:20am on Thursday. where she died from her injuries.
Noah was also transported to Baptist, where he is recovering from a head injury. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Joyce was not injured in the collision.
Trooper Elrod charged Joyce with failure to yield and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
