Triad, NC -- Teachers, principals, students, families and McDonald's restaurant owners and operators kicked off "McTeacher's Night" to raise money for Triad-area schools on Tuesday.

McTeacher's Night is a regional event hosted by McDonald's restaurants across North Carolina. The event has raised more than $600,000 for local schools in the past 9 years.

Students got to watch their favorite teachers and principals go from the classroom to the dining room to whip up Smoothies, prepare family dinners and man the cash registers at McDonalds.

Each participating McDonald's restaurant donated a percentage of the sales during McTeacher's Night to its partner school.

One of the schools, Elon Elementary in Burlington, was represented at the McDonald's restaurant on University Drive in Burlington.

Other participating McDonald's restaurants included 6 locations in Greensboro, 3 in Winston-Salem, 1 in High Point and 6 in Alamance County.
