A lot of people head to the doctor, begging for antibiotics to make the sinus infection go away.
Well guess what? A new study says antibiotics do not work for a majority of patients.
Patients who took a placebo, or dummy pill, recovered at about the same rate as those who took an antibiotic. Eighty-percent of patients got better within 10 days no matter which pill they took.
Part of the reason: most sinus infections are caused by viruses, which don't respond to antibiotics.
