Greensboro, NC -- Some employers will interview potential employees on the phone. Career Consultant Joyce Richman explains how to prepare.

Richman says voice counts and content counts. "Your phone line connection counts, so you be sure to get that real strong signal. Also, you don't want to be distracted, so be sure to be in a room where you don't have small children or small dogs and other kinds of animals flitting back and forth, because that certainly takes you off your game. You want to listen keenly to the questions you are being asked. And you want to have prepared so you can answer those questions in a very succinct fashion because this is going to go quickly. Do your research about the company, because you are going to be asked why you are interested in interviewing with them. Having done your research on yourself, you'll be able to answer the question about what your strengths are.

"So again, you want to be upbeat, you want to be positive, you want to be enthusiastic, you want to have energy and be sure your voice sounds that way."
