Winston Salem, NC -- When you are sick or in the hospital, how cool would it be to come home to a new living room?
A Winston-Salem woman got the surprise of her life after returning home from breast cancer treatment. She didn't recognize the room as her living room.
Judith Shorter came home to a brand new living room, compliment of the non-profit The Living Room.
Shorter has nine children. Last May, she was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer.
While she underwent chemotherapy on Wednesday, volunteers with a non-profit organization called "The Living Room' redecorated her place.
"There are no words to describe what they did, God, they brought in a powerful feeling that was positive and it took away a lot of depression on the spot," said Shorter.
"I can't help but think that it somehow changes the energy and helps with their illness," said 'The Living Room Founder Susan MacIntosh.
