Northridge, CA (Sports Network) - Orlando Johnson scored a game-high 25 points
to lead the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos to an 85-70 victory over the Cal State-
Northridge Matadors in Big West Conference action at The Matadome.
Alan Williams contributed 19 points and nine rebounds for the Gauchos (12-7,
7-2 Big West). James Nunnally chipped in 14 points in the winning effort.
Josh Greene paced Cal State-Northridge (6-14, 2-7) with 15 points. Stephan
Hicks added 12 points and Vinnie McGhee had 11 points while Stephen Maxwell
grabbed eight rebounds.
UCSB took a 38-31 advantage into the intermission after it knocked down 44.8
percent of its field goals in the opening period. The Matadors kept it close
by hitting 6-of-14 from beyond the arc in the first half.
The Matadors connected on only 38.9 percent of their field goals in the second
half. The Gauchos extended their lead by shooting 68 percent from the field
and making 9-of-13 from the free throw line in the final 20 minutes.
UCSB shot 55.6 percent from the field in the contest. Cal State-Northridge
attempted 11 more shots but connected on just 38.5 percent of its field goal
attempts.
