Fresno, CA (Sports Network) - Tyler Johnson netted a game high 17 points to
lead the Fresno State Bulldogs to a 65-55 victory over the Idaho Vandals in
Western Athletic Conference action at the Save Mart Center.
Jerry Brown recorded a double-double for Fresno State (10-14, 2-6 WAC) as it
snapped its three-game losing streak.
Kyle Barone paced Idaho (11-11, 4-4) with 14 points and eight rebounds. Deremy
Geiger and Mansa Habeeb chipped in 12 points each.
The Bulldogs were on fire in the first half as they made 63.6 percent of their
field goals to take a 36-20 lead into the intermission. Idaho shot an ice cold
28 percent from the floor and went 0-of-9 from beyond the arc in the opening
period.
The Vandals heated up after the break and connected on 48.1 percent of their
field goals and knocked down 5-of-11 from beyond the arc in the second half.
Although Idaho narrowed its lead to as little as five, Fresno State's 11-of-20
shooting from the charity stripe was enough to give it a 10-point victory.
The Bulldogs shot an even 50 percent from the field in the contest while Idaho
made 38.5 percent of its field goals and just 5-of-20 from three-point range.
