Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Toronto FC announced the signing of Ecuadorian
international defender Geovanny Caicedo on Thursday.
Caicedo, 30, began his career with Huracan of Ecuador and has spent his entire
club career in his homeland. Caicedo most recently played for LDU Quito, the
same club as Toronto FC forward Joao Plata.
"Caicedo brings great club and international experience to Toronto FC and can
compete for a starting position," said Toronto FC coach and technical director
Aron Winter.
"He is a player that we have been watching for some time and we felt he would
be a good fit at our club and in Major League Soccer."
Caicedo has earned eight caps for Ecuador.
As per team and league policies, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
